A stunt man working on the latest James Bond movie accidentally drove the secret agent’s prized automobile into an Italian lake Sunday.

The Aston Martin DBS was totaled at dawn during heavy rain alongside northern Italy’s Lake Garda, with the car plowing off the road and plunging about 30 feet to the water’s surface.

“The car skidded, broke through the guard rail and ended up in the water. It floated almost a minute and then went straight down,” a local barman told reporters.

The car, valued at $250,000, sank to an estimated depth of 150 feet and a couple of hours later a crane was put in place to pull it out of the water. The roof was crushed almost flat into the bodywork, but the driver was able to swim ashore.
